VooPoo are giants in the vaping world, known for their innovation and high-quality products. This is especially true when it comes to their pod mods, as they have certainly caused a stir with the Drag X and Drag S. These two devices are stylish pod mods, not too clunky with a unique design aspect to them that helps to catch an eye or two.
At a glance, the Drag X and Drag S may look almost identical. However, looks can be deceiving, and we can assure you that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to the differences between these two vape devices. Stay tuned, as we’re going to be breaking down the differences between both of these kits in this blog!
Design
Let's start off simple with aesthetics. If there's one thing the Drag X and Drag S have in common, it's their look. These two devices are like identical twins, sporting extremely similar designs with the only difference being that the Drag S features a battery compartment due to it requiring the use of external batteries.
Both devices have a gorgeous leather handle on the body which is great for grip when vaping, but it also looks great too. The word 'Drag' is written in bold along the leather grip, a design feature that the Drag series of vapes are known for. It's a little more subtle on the Drag X and Drag S than it is on many of the other mods in this series, which could be a big plus for many.
On the face of both devices you'll find a large LED screen that displays all of your vaping information in crystal clear clarity. The pod mod’s screen is even visible in direct sunlight – solving a problem that has always been a real annoyance for vapers! Above the screen, VooPoo has placed a large fire button that is intended for use with your thumb for intuitive firing.
In terms of size, the VooPoo Drag X edges the Drag S, being slightly taller, but with reduced width. The Drag S has dimensions of 87mm x 33mm x 28mm compared to the Drag X at 95mm x 32.5 x 28mm. Weight-wise, the Drag X is heavier, at 166g compared to the Drag S, weighing in at just 149g. If you're after the more compact version of the two, the Drag S is the way to go. However, the difference is somewhat marginal.
Features
Both of these pod mods have been kitted out with some really impressive features. This is all thanks to the GENE-TT chipset that is built-in to both pod devices which offers a range of different modes and safety protections. One of the standout features of these pod mods is the SMART feature, which when activated will automatically detect the resistance of the coil that is currently in use and set the appropriate wattage.
Other great features, courtesy of the GENE-TT chipset include the score ranking mode and puff counter. The score ranking mode will rate the vapour production and keep score of your vapour production, perfect for beginner cloud chasers. The puff counter is a nice addition from VooPoo that helps vapers keep track of the number of puffs they have taken over the last 14 days.
Pods
VooPoo have made the Drag X and Drag S both compatible with the PnP Pods, and as there isn't too much difference in terms of size and capability, this is a decision that makes perfect sense. The PnP pods stand out so much as VooPoo have essentially merged the best parts of a pod and a vape tank together. They feature a bottom-fill design, making it simple and mess-free to refill the pods with e-juice. Coils are inserted into the bottom of the pod to make swapping out coils as easy as it is to refill them.
A great feature of the PnP Pods is that they have a 510 connector base, making them compatible with a wide range of other VooPoo devices. The drip tip is rounded and perfect for airflow when inhaling to help produce large clouds of vapour. Finally, the pods have a 2ml e-liquid capacity in line with TPD regulations.
Coils
The VooPoo Drag X and Drag S are compatible with VooPoo's PnP coils which are available in a range of different resistances. The PnP coils almost all feature a mesh design which is perfect for sub-ohm vaping as they allow for more e-liquid to be vaporised and they also have a quicker ramp-up time.
The VooPoo Drag X and the VooPoo Drag S both come with two coils, one of them being a 0.3 ohm coil. However, the other coil as part of the Drag X vape is a 0.15 ohm coil whilst the Drag S comes with a 0.2 ohm coil. This is due to the fact that Drag X can operate at a higher wattage, meaning that it can use a lower resistance coil for bigger vapour production.
Battery and charging
When it comes to the way these devices are powered, there is an important distinction. Due to the Drag X operating at a higher wattage, it requires more power. To achieve this, VooPoo have designed the Drag X to be used with an external 18650 battery, whereas the VooPoo Drag S features a built-in battery that can be charged with the type-C charger that will come in the box.
Performance
Both of these devices provide an exceptional vaping experience that will not disappoint. Their individual differences are slight, but enough to mean that one might be better suited to a certain type of vaper than the other. Because the Drag X has a higher maximum wattage, it will produce larger clouds of vapour than the Drag S, especially when used with the 0.15 ohm coil.
The Drag S has a maximum wattage of 60W, so it won't be producing quite the same amount of vapour, but when using the 0.2 ohm coil it is still a decent amount and a smooth vape which may be better for fans of direct-lung vaping. The adjustable airflow on both devices allow vapers to fine-tune their vapour production with precision accuracy, helping to create a tailored experience on both.
