Lost Mary Vapes and the UK Disposable Ban: Compliant Vape Models

From June 1, 2025, the UK disposable vape ban will come into effect. This means that disposable vapes will be banned across the country, and you’ll no longer be able to buy these devices in-store or online legally.

One of the most well-known brands that will be affected by this ban is Lost Mary

Considered the queen of disposable vapes, Lost Mary is an Elf Bar innovation that took the world by storm. The brand has wowed vapers with appealing disposables that feature distinctive silhouettes, eye-catching designs, and incredible flavours.

However, under the new law, this household brand will no longer be allowed to sell its disposable vapes. Here’s why and what to look out for in compliant vapes instead.

Why Are Lost Mary Disposable Vapes Going To Be Banned?

The Lost Mary disposable vape range is being phased out in the UK due to the government's upcoming ban on disposable vapes. It specifically targets single-use vape devices that cannot be recharged, refilled, or reused.

What Does The Law State?

Under the new law, all vapes sold legally in the UK must be rechargeable and/or refillable and must allow for pod or coil replacement. This will significantly reduce the number of lithium batteries and plastic casings being discarded.

This means that most classic disposables, such as those made by Lost Mary, will be banned from sale as they are designed to be used once and thrown away. These devices, which helped fuel the rise of vaping in the UK thanks to their simplicity, wide flavour range, and accessibility, will no longer meet regulatory standards.

Models like the Lost Mary BM600 and the Lost Mary 4 in 1 Prefilled Pod Vape Kit, which offer great convenience but no reusability, will be completely removed from vape shop shelves.

Why Is The Law Being Introduced?

Image representing environmental waste and youth protection

This new legislation is part of broader efforts to tackle youth vaping and environmental waste.

The law has been introduced under the Environmental Act, but in addition to curbing waste, the ban also seeks to limit access to youth by standardising packaging, restricting flavours, and tightening retail regulations. There’s been a huge increase in the waste created by disposable vapes and youth vapers, so it’s a double-pronged approach.

As part of this shift, manufacturers like Lost Mary will need to adapt their product lines to comply with the new rules. This includes investing in the development of rechargeable and refillable vape kits that offer the same satisfying flavours and nicotine delivery but with a more sustainable design.

What Makes A Vape Compliant Under The New UK Laws?

While the UK vape ban marks the end of an era for traditional disposable vapes in the UK, it's also a turning point for the industry.

Brands are already introducing next-gen products that replicate the disposable experience in pod-based, rechargeable formats. These devices give vapers more control over their vaping while aligning with environmental goals.

Under the new law, these vapes must meet certain criteria, including those enforced by the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). Although the UK no longer forms part of the EU, the TPD regulations remain in place as part of the UK Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016.

Have a Rechargeable Battery

The vape must have a rechargeable power source, typically via USB-C. This eliminates single-use lithium batteries that contribute to environmental waste and potential harm.

Include Refillable or Replaceable Pods/Coils

The device must allow e-liquid refills or use replaceable pods or coils. Fully sealed, single-use e-liquid chambers (like in traditional disposables) are banned.

Meet Nicotine Content & E-Liquid Volume Controls

The maximum nicotine strength remains 20mg/ml (2%) in the UK. However, per the existing TPD regulations, e-liquid containers cannot exceed 2ml capacity.

Feature a Child-Resistant and Tamper-Evident Design

All compliant devices and refills must feature child-proof packaging and caps to reduce accidental ingestion.

Include Clear Labelling and Health Warnings

Compliant vapes must include visible health warnings, ingredient lists, and usage instructions to align with TPD standards.

Are Any Flavours Banned?

At present, there is no ban on the flavours allowed. However, the government may still introduce flavour limits, such as removing candy-like names or fruit blends, to reduce the appeal of vaping to under-18s.

What To Do Once The Ban Is In Place

Although the sale of Lost Mary disposable vapes will be banned in the UK from June 2025, vaping itself isn’t going anywhere and neither is Lost Mary.

Instead, the brand is evolving, shifting its focus to refillable and rechargeable devices that meet the new legal standards while still delivering the flavour and satisfaction vapers expect.

One standout example is the Lost Mary BM6000, a compliant device that offers both refillability and reusability. Designed to last up to two weeks on a single fill, it keeps the Lost Mary experience alive, just in a more sustainable, regulation-friendly format.

So, while classic disposables may be disappearing from shelves, loyal fans can still find trusted Lost Mary performance in next-gen alternatives.
