What is a vape kit?

Vape kits are designed to provide a complete vaping setup as it comes with everything you need to get started straight away. They take the fuss of having to purchase all of the separate bits and pieces individually. Inside a vape kit you'll find the vape device, vape tank or replacement pod, coils and other accessories such as a USB-C cable. It is important to mention that the more powerful vape kits use external batteries, and will often require you to purchase the specific battery type separately.

In the early days of vaping, vape kits were few and far between - not a huge variety was available, and most e-cigarette companies were producing similar types of devices. Nowadays, the situation could not be more different. Vapers have an enormous selection of different types of vape kits available at their fingertips.

You may come across the terms ‘open vape kits’ and ‘closed vape kits’ whilst on your journey to find your new device. There is an important distinction between the two and it's good to know when selecting your kit. Open vape kits come with refillable pods or vape tanks which allow you to refill them at will with a variety of different e-liquids. On the other hand, closed vape kits come with single-use, pre-filled pods that must be discarded once all of the e-liquid has been used up.

Different Types of Vape Kits

Starter Kits

The most logical place to begin when first getting started with vaping, starter kits are aimed at beginner vapers. This is not to say that vape starter kits do not still incorporate a range of impressive features, but they have been designed specifically so that those early on in the vaping journey do not become overwhelmed. They are easy to use, portable, and cost-effective.

As starter vape kits can technically fall into the category of pod kits, pen kits and AIO kits, the e-liquid that they are best paired with will depend on the type of device itself.

Advanced Kits

As the name suggests, advanced vape kits are for those who have been vaping for longer and have a bit more experience on their hands. More often than not, these devices are designed for sub ohm vaping and produce large plumes of vapour. They are a lot more powerful compared to other types of vape kits, and come with a wide range of built-in features and modes to help really refine your vaping experience.

Best paired with nicotine-free shortfills, advanced vape kits are less about nicotine content and more about flavour and huge clouds of vapour. Comprising an advanced box mod and a high-level vape tank, advanced kits allow for much more customizability than vapes that have been designed with beginners in mind. Users can expect innovative features such as variable wattage, temperature control, and more - we mean it when we say that they offer an exhilarating vaping experience!

Pod Kit

Simple, compact, beginner-friendly, pod kits are a great choice for all types of vapers. Designed to provide a smooth mouth-to-lung experience, pod vape kits can be used by both newcomers or experienced vapers alike. These devices get their name from the fact that they use pods instead of tanks like vape pens or mods do. Pod systems feature pods that either come prefilled with e-liquid or those that are refillable and can be filled with an e-liquid of your choice.

Whilst they can be used by anyone, pod vape kits are ideal for ex-smokers as they provide a vaping experience that closely resembles the sensation of smoking a cigarette. They're lower powered than sub-ohm devices, but offer a few more features such as an adjustable wattage or airflow control as well as a higher power output than disposable vapes. Pod kits come with a built-in battery and often a single fire button, with the occasional small screen to display basic vaping information.

AIO Kits

Like vape starter kits, all-in-one vape kits—commonly referred to simply as AIO kits—are highly convenient in that they contain everything you will need to vape from to get-go. This includes your vape device, battery, atomiser, coils, and charging cable. For those who aren't sure which parts you need to buy for your vape, this is one of the best places to start. For many vapers, simplicity really is key!

Vape Pens

Low-profile, pocket-friendly, and simple to operate, vape pens have risen in popularity over the past few years. Not only are they the perfect option for vaping whilst on the go, they can still pack a punch of power despite their smaller size. As the name suggests, they are slim and pen-shaped, but they also contain a rechargeable battery and a tank that can be refilled with your favourite e-liquid.

Disposables

It really doesn't get easier than using a disposable vape. Unlike pen kits that include tanks and pod kits that use attachable pods, disposable e-cigarettes have no visible attachments that can be removed, making them incredibly simple to operate. They are draw-activated, meaning that you would use these electronic cigarettes in a very similar way to how you would smoke a regular cigarette. As they feature a built-in battery and coil and are pre-filled with e-liquid, the effort required to set them up is minimal, making them a great option for first time vapers.

Vape Kits FAQs

Whilst many different types exist, and of course, no two vapes are the same, all vape kits will incorporate each of the following components:

  • A battery to power your device - it is from here that your coil gets the power to heat up and vaporise your e-liquid
  • A tank or pod that houses your e-liquid and feeds it onto the coil
  • A coil that heats up to convert your e-liquid into vapour
  • A mouthpiece or drip tip that you put to your mouth to vape from

Most vape kits will also come with additional vape coils, a USB-C charging cable, and a user manual to demonstrate how to properly operate the device.

There's no real answer to this question as it completely depends on your personal preferences and why you've decided to pick up a vape in the first place. What we can assure you of is that every vape device we stock is genuine and made from top quality brands including the likes of Voopoo, Uwell, Vaporesso and more.

As is the case with cigarettes, the legal vaping age in the UK is 18. To purchase e-cigarettes, e-juice, or any product containing nicotine either here at Vaping 101 or in any online or in-person vape store in the UK, you must be 18 years of age.

MTL vape kits are designed to simulate the sensation of smoking a cigarette, with a tighter draw and higher resistance coils. They are popular among smokers transitioning to vaping or those who prefer a discreet experience.

Sub-ohm vape kits, on the other hand, are built for direct lung inhales, producing larger vapour clouds with lower resistance coils. They are favoured by experienced vapers for their intense flavour and vapour production. The choice between MTL and sub-ohm depends on personal preference and desired vaping experience.

Vape kits are completely safe to use as long as you are not using a fake device. There are lots of these around, which is why it is important to purchase your vapes from a trusted and reputable store. We take safety very seriously here at Vaping 101 which is why we only stock legitimate vape kits from certified brands such as Geekvape, Uwell, Vaporesso and more. Many of the more powerful vape mods also have a range of built-in safety protections to protect against overheating or using your settings incorrectly.
