Vaporesso is a vaping company under the umbrella of the vaping giant, Smoore. The Vaporesso XROS series was created for vapers that enjoyed Caliburn-style vapes but are looking for a tighter draw.
While both pod kit options below are able to give you the choice between a mouth-to-lung vape or an MTL and restricted direct-to-lung (RDTL) vape, you’ll notice there are some key differences between the two models that will affect what experience you can expect from them.

Design
The Vaporesso XROS 2 pod kit weighs just 45 grams when the pod is installed and measures 112.2 mm x 23.4 mm x 13.4 mm. The steel body has a stylish matte finish and the size and shape make it ideal for vaping on the go and storing in pockets. An adjustable airflow control allows for more customisable and precise settings.
The design features draw activation and a fire button depending on your personal preference. Additionally, the XROS 2 uses a USB type-C charge port which is found on the bottom of the device and designed for quick and easy charging.
The XROS 2 is available in an excellent selection of over 15 colours, including the popular:

Meanwhile, the Vaporesso XROS 3 pod kit is a little larger than the XROS 2 and measures 115.1 mm x 13.7 mm x 23.6 mm. The high-quality build provides a solid airflow adjuster and fire button. Like the XROS 2, you can choose between using the fire button or draw activation.
The design is understated and has a small LED bar at the bottom that serves as a battery indicator. The Vaporesso XROS 3 also has a great colour selection, although not as varied as the XROS 2. Some popular colour choices include:

Both designs make use of a fill port beneath the mouthpiece. This top-fill design is typically easier to use and ensures a mess-free e-liquid refilling process.
Features
The main features of the Vaporesso XROS 2 include dual activation modes and a fast-charging battery. The device also features a built-in smart chipset that is designed to automatically adjust your vape’s wattage according to the coil’s resistance.
An LED light indicator also helps the user keep track of the battery life left. This is great for avoiding nasty surprises when you least expect them.
The Vaporesso XROS 3 boasts an impressive 1000mAh internal battery and adjustable airflow slider. Similarly to the XROS 2, the XROS 3 also provides both button firing and auto-draw options that give the user more freedom, while the SSS Leak-Resistant Protection provides additional peace of mind. A magnetic pod connection system adds simplicity to this excellent design.
The Vaporesso XROS 3 Pod Kit also boasts a pulse mode, supported by its AXON chip, which improves your e-liquid’s flavour by boosting the power.
They both use COREX heating tech for accurate and long-lasting flavour.
Pods
Vaporesso pods are known for providing maximised flavour and clouds and have been great from their inception. While the pod kits have undergone a few upgrades, the XROS pods themselves remain the same.
Each pod coil can last multiple fills, and you’ll be expected to replace your pod after you’ve used 25 ml of e-liquid. Since it has a capacity of 2ml, this means you can refill your XROS pod up to 12 times.
Leak-proof technology also ensures the pods stay clean and you don't waste your valuable vape juice. The pods attach easily thanks to their magnetic design.
Vaporesso XROS replacement pods are available with mesh coils in the following resistances:
- 0.6 ohm
- 0.8 ohm
- 1.0 ohm
- 1.2 ohm
Coils
The XROS 2 provides two mesh coil options. The 0.8-ohm coil creates a loose MTL vaping experience while the 1.2-ohm coil is better for those that want a tighter draw, ideal for anyone that’s looking to quit smoking. Both are provided in the box when you purchase the device.
On the other hand, the Vaporesso XROS 3 uses coils with 0.6-ohm and 1.0-ohm resistances, allowing users to choose between MTL or RDTL vaping. This option comes with the 0.6 ohms pre-installed while the 1.0-ohm mesh coil is provided in the box.
Battery Life
Both the Vaporesso XROS 2 and XROS 3 come equipped with a 1000 mAh built-in battery, making them ideal for those who require a portable vape pod kit with extended battery life. These systems can be fully charged in under an hour so you won’t have to worry about leaving the house with a low powered vape.
A full charge is likely to get you through the day pretty easily while the built-in AXON chip used in Vaporesso designs helps to produce larger, more flavourful vapour clouds and get the most from the batteries. This is great news for people that want a vape pod kit that is powerful, portable and offers long battery life.
You can keep tabs on your impressive battery by checking the battery indicator after puffing. The LED light will activate after each puff and light up with one of three colours. If the LED light is green, you have between 70% and 100% of your battery life left. A blue light means you have between 30% and 70%, while a red light indicates you have less than 30% power remaining.
Performance
The Vaporesso XROS 2 performance has been compared to the original XROS pod kit and they offer a similar MTL vaping experience.
The main difference between the 2 is the airflow control design. Instead of slits, the airflow adjuster on the back of the device looks like a tapered teardrop. The airflow adjustment slider provides more precise control because of this, making it perfect for those that want a tight draw with a strong throat hit.
With the airflow shut off completely the device has a similar performance to the XROS Mini.
The Vaporesso XROS 3 offers a different vaping experience depending on the pod selected. With the XROS 3, you’re able to choose between the 0.6-ohm or 1.0-ohm mesh coil pods. The 1.0 ohm coil is designed for an MTL vape, while the 0.6-ohm option is designed for MTL or RDTL vaping.
The XROS 3 also features Vaporesso’s innovative COREX heating technology, that is used to ensure rapid and even heating while also providing incredible flavour and solid longevity for users.
The Verdict?
Both the Vaporesso XROS 2 and Vaporesso XROS 3 are excellent pod kits and will guarantee a great vaping experience for many vapers. They’re both similar in size, style and come in a great range of colours while offering users the same impressive battery capacity.
However, it's clear that the Vaporesso XROS 2 shares more in common with the original XROS design than it does with the XROS 3. This is because the XROS pods used by the XROS 3 allow for RDTL vaping as well as MTL.
The XROS 3 is a pod mod that is better suited to more experienced vapers than the XROS 2 because of its RDTL vape capabilities. This device provides a great way for users to experiment and transition between vaping styles, perfect for those who may not be the most seasoned and are still trying to find a vaping style that works for them.
While Vaporesso did well with the XROS 2 as it improved on the original XROS design, the XROS 3 takes the design in a slightly different direction. If you’re someone who has just started with vaping or is making the switch from smoking traditional cigarettes, you might find the XROS 2 a better option because it is purely an MTL pod and therefore pretty straightforward to get started with.
